ADULT BEARDED DRAGON HIDES FULL
The internet isn't helping and stock images all look like the lizards are yearlings rather than the full grown adults. Does anyone know the dimensions needed for a typical hide for a full grown bearded lizard between the 12-24 inch length? My question is for the volcano, i have looked up hides online but trying to match dimensions to a non existent lizard, especially when i don't know how big it may grow, i could end up with a 12 inch lizard or a full 24 inch one. The final design will be slightly different as i figure out things and make necessary changes as i go along. and with the change to the 18 inch wide floor space it will end up needing to be modified, especially the climbing ramps. the second level i plan on making it a cooler level for the beardie to have to cool down, may put a water bowl there while the food bowl on the upper level.īelow is my concept sketch originally designed with a two foot wide floor space, but it's not exactly drawn to scale. i haven't figured out all the lighting placement as i do not know how much i will need especially for the second level and may not know until i build it. Other than putting the heating lamp by the volcano as it will provide the higher elevation for the beardie to rest near the heat source. while the second level will be based on the ark ship's control room, i haven't finished designing the second level beyond the background.

going to make the volcano in two pieces so i can access the hide should something happen to my beardie. i plan on making the volcano a combination hide away and sunning rock with an attached additional hide away that i may or may not make connected to the volcano like a tunnel, may even scrap the second hideaway and make it another sunning rock. The scene i plan on building is called the autobot ark base, the top half of the enclosure will be desert theme with a volcano with the autobot ark ship crashed into it. i plan to do a split level enclosure, which would give the beardy pretty much twice the space to run around. i originally planned to go with the full 4 X 2 X 2 foot dimension enclosure but price wise for now i will go with the slightly smaller one, might build the one i want myself but that is a project in the future. i plan to get a 48 X 18 X 12 inch front access enclosure, with custom built decorations. one of my hobbies is being a transformers toy collector and my bedroom where i plan to keep the enclosure is nothing but transformers. I have decided i am going to go big for my first enclosure. i did think of going with a snake first but something about the beardie charm that made the decision for me. I have never owned a reptile in my life, i have handled some over the years either friend's pets, reptile shows (i can't resist the chance to hold a lizard or a snake), and the occasional snake or lizard i found while farming (the number of snakes i have rescue from hay bales is frightening). i do know the basic care of beardies, and have on occasion been skimming threads here in my searches for further information, which is why i decided to join as i may be able to get the answers i need from all of you. I am doing a lot of researching before i pick up my very first beardie (not expecting to get one until maybe a year from now) so i can have everything ready and be fully prepared. Hi guys, i'm a total newb to the forums, this being my first post, so quick back story before i get to my question.
